Current Ripple Analysis of 72° Phase-Clamping PWM Techniques for Five-Phase Drive
The appeal of multiphase systems has led to their widespread adoption in medium and high-powered drives. Effective operation of these systems necessitates the implementation of pulse width modulation (PWM). This paper focuses on the modulation technique for five-phase voltage source inverters using advanced PWM (ADPWM) methods. ADPWM employs specialized switching sequences that enable a clamping duration of 72°. Additionally, variations in the space vector timing yield additional PWM techniques. The clamping duration plays a crucial role in reducing switching energy losses. The proposed technique is subjected to simulation, and the results are meticulously analyzed.
