Comparative Analysis of Multiport Boost Converter and Z-Source Multiport Converter for EV Charging

This paper explores recent advancements in multiport DC-DC converters, with a focus on their development and application. A multiport boost converter is evaluated for use in hybrid electric vehicles, showing superior output performance over traditional designs. It combines various input sources, including FC, PV panel, and energy storage. Notably, the converter maintains load power supply even when one or two input sources are absent. Additionally, a Z-source-based multiport converter is evaluated for efficient power transfer between input sources, load, and battery. Single-stage power transfer includes a bidirectional interface that allows for battery discharge and recharge, making it incredibly efficient. Both converters are compared and evaluated based on different aspects along with their simulation results and performance.
