A Quadruple Boost Nine Level Inverter Performance in Power Conversion
This article present a single DC source-based nine-level inverter having a common ground (CG) configuration with quadruple boosting capability. Self-balancing Switched Capacitors (SC) are used to produce the desired output. It uses 10 switches and three SCs to achieve output voltage. Inverter control is achieved by the pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques. It also controls the charging and discharging of the SCs at fundamental frequency. The switching pulse of each power switch is analysed. A brief discussion on capacitor selection and detailed comparative analysis is performed with the existing state to illustrate the advantage of the inverter configuration. Voltage and current stress across each power component is carried out. The inverter performance is validated for both resistive, inductive and dynamic load conditions in the Matlab/Simulink and PLECS. Voltage and current THD are analysed for both output voltage and current. The inverter achieved an efficiency of 97.62 % at a 1 kW load.
