Blockchain-Based Healthcare Outcome Improvement: A Decentralized Method of Patient Care

Blockchain technology offers transformative potential in healthcare management by enhancing the security, privacy, and interoperability of patient data. This paper presents a comprehensive review of current blockchain applications in healthcare and proposes a blockchain-based healthcare management system that facilitates secure, decentralized medical data exchange. The system ensures finegrained control over data access while maintaining integrity and transparency through immutable records. Our analysis examines various blockchain platforms, smart contracts, and challenges faced in integrating this technology into healthcare. By leveraging blockchain, we aim to address data siloing, legacy system issues, and administrative inefficiencies, ultimately improving patient outcomes and system efficiency. Blockchain technology has emerged as a transformative solution in the healthcare sector, offering robust mechanisms to address the longstanding challenges of data security, interoperability, and privacy. In healthcare, managing sensitive patient data securely while ensuring real-time access across various entities has been a persistent issue. This paper presents a comprehensive review of blockchain's application in healthcare management systems and proposes a blockchain-based system model that offers decentralized data storage, enhanced data privacy, and improved control over Electronic Health Records (EHR). The proposed system integrates smart contracts, enabling seamless and secure sharing of medical records between healthcare providers and patients while ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA and GDPR. By leveraging blockchain's immutable and transparent properties, the system addresses issues such as data tampering, unauthorized access, and data siloing. This study also examines existing literature, highlighting the potential and limitations of blockchain technology in healthcare. Our findings demonstrate that while blockchain adoption in healthcare is still in its early stages, its potential to revolutionize healthcare data management is immense. The implementation of this system can lead to significant improvements in patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and cost reduction, contributing to the evolution of healthcare services in the digital age.
