Design and Development of Dual-Input Single-Output High-Gain DC-DC Converter for Renewable Energy Application

This paper presents the design and performance evaluation of a novel non-isolated Dual-Input Single-Output High-Gain (DISOHG) DC-DC converter tailored for renewable energy applications, including fuel cells and solar photovoltaic systems. The DISOHG topology integrates two input sources, achieving higher voltage gain and improved system reliability while maintaining a common ground between the input and output terminals. The converter architecture employs two inductors, three capacitors, three diodes, and two MOSFETs to effectively step up the input voltage to a higher output level. Designed for a 200 W power rating, an output voltage of 350 V, and operating at a frequency of 50 kHz, it supports dual input sources with voltage levels of 48 V and 72 V. A detailed steady-state analysis in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) is carried out using analytical waveforms. Experimental results obtained from a prototype developed in the laboratory confirm the converter's effectiveness and performance.
