An Islanding Identification Strategy based on Disturbance Injection and Wavelet Transform

The continuous advances in the power electronics technologies, assisted the renewable energy resources to be connected to the distribution electrical network effectively. It provides several advantages and a few challenges like islanding detection. It is vital to detect the accidental islanding formation to protect the electrical component and the working personnels. In this work, an accidental islanding identification strategy is proposed to detect the island formation based on current disturbance injection and wavelet transform. The proposed methodology identifies the islanding formation within 200 ms, and allows the distributed generator (DG) for the fault ride through. The proposed strategy is verified and validated in MATLAB/Simulink 2024a.
