Optimized Design and Performance Evaluation of a Sonic Anemometer for Precise Wind Measurement

Precise, low-power anemometry systems are vital for weather forecasting and wind energy harvesting. The most effective and efficient type of anemometer is the ultrasonic anemometer. This research develops an Arduino-based ultrasonic anemometer using the HC-SR04 sensor with reasonable accuracy. The proposed system leverages low-power Internet of Things (IoT) devices coupled with signal processing to accomplish these objectives.

Abstract

Precise, low-power anemometry systems are vital for weather forecasting and wind energy harvesting. The most effective and efficient type of anemometer is the ultrasonic anemometer. This research develops an Arduino-based ultrasonic anemometer using the HC-SR04 sensor with reasonable accuracy. The proposed system leverages low-power Internet of Things (IoT) devices coupled with signal processing to accomplish these objectives.
