A Novel Passive Islanding Detection Strategy for DC Microgrid
The application of DC microgrid (MG) is extensively increasing in the modern power grid, because of the improved efficiency and reduction in the conversion stages, use of distributed generation which provides DC output, and DC loads. Unintentional islanding detection is a vital concern in both the DC and AC MGs. The research in islanding detection (ID) in AC MGs is well established. But ID in DC MGs is still in its initial stage. Therefore, the aim of this work is for the development of a novel passive ID methodology based on the rate of change of ripple voltage (ROCORV) for DC MGs. The proposed method works adeptly in distinguishing islanding from non-islanding conditions. It also detects islanding conditions adeptly during zero power mismatch conditions. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is tested for various islanding and non-islanding detection (INI). The intended work detects islanding within 0.102 s.
