Triple Active Bridge Converter for Solar PV-Assisted EV Charging

This paper presents a systematic analysis and control of an isolated Triple Active Bridge (TAB) converter designed for solar PV assisted electric vehicle (EV) charging. The TAB converter features three distinct full-bridge ports that can be connected to different sources and loads. A high-frequency multi-winding transformer interconnects all ports providing the isolation and facilitating efficient energy transfer between sources and loads and isolation. The study includes a detailed mathematical analysis of a decoupled control technique, solar PV MPPT, and voltage source converter control. The proposed decoupled control enables independent power flow control between the sources. Simulation results for a 10 kW system validate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
