A Fault Tolerant Multilevel Inverter for Preserved Rated Power Output During Post-Fault

This paper introduces a fault-tolerant converter by incorporating a resistor switch circuit (RSC) into a T-type multilevel inverter (MLI). The proposed converter offers fault tolerance while maintaining rated power when subjected to various switch faults on single and multiple phases. Additionally, it includes a feature for capacitor voltage balancing during the post-fault period. The fault tolerance ability and operation of the proposed converter are validated using MATLAB SIMULINK, and corresponding simulation results are presented for healthy operation, fault scenarios, and post-fault duration, which are discussed in detail. Leveraging its robust fault tolerance capability with preserved rated power, the proposed converter shows promise for use in remote and emergency load applications.
