Triple Active Bridge Converter for Electric Vehicle Applications

To fulfill the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs), new power conversion technologies are required to increase economy and performance. This study presents a novel Triple Active Bridge (TAB) converter intended for use in electric car applications. The TAB converter architecture exhibits significant gains in power density, efficiency, and control flexibility as compared to traditional single and twin active bridge converters. By combining three active bridges, the proposed converter allows for efficient energy management and bidirectional power transfer between the battery, auxiliary systems, and regenerative braking. The flexibility and convenience of switching between modes of operation of the converter enhance the system's overall dependability and adaptability. The converter's improved efficiency, lower switching losses, and improved thermal performance are shown by results from experiments and simulations. Sophisticated control techniques are employed to further improve power transfer, ensuring dependable and efficient operation under various load circumstances. The Triple Active Bridge converter has significant promise for future EV powertrains, furthering the cause of high-performance and ecologically responsible electric mobility, according to the study's findings.
