A Unique Z-Source DC-DC Converter with Reduced Stresses on Passive Components

DC-DC converters play a critical role in various applications, such as electric vehicles (EVs) and photovoltaic (PV) systems, where there is a need to either step up or step-down the voltage levels. Among the various topologies, Z-source DC-DC converters have gained attention due to their ability to achieve higher voltage gains compared to conventional converters. This paper introduces a novel Z-source DC-DC converter topology that significantly reduces the voltage stress across passive components, thereby allowing the use of devices with lower voltage ratings. This reduction in stress contributes to improved efficiency and potentially lower costs. Comprehensive simulations of the proposed converter have been conducted, and the results align well with the theoretical analysis, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed design.
