Optimal Reactive Power Control in Standalone Hybrid Power System by Using Harris Hawks Algorithm Tuned Statcom Tilt Controller
The intermittent nature of renewable energy sources and load disturbances may lead to an imbalance of reactive power, which can further affect the stability of the system. In order to achieve dynamic voltage support and reactive power control, the implementation of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices is necessary. This paper discusses the reactive power control and improvement of stability in a standalone micro-hydro wind diesel hybrid power system (SMHWDHPS) using a novel Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) algorithm tuned STATCOM tilt-integral second-order double derivative controller (STATCOM-TIDD2). A comparison of results is made with different controllers and algorithms.
