Ultra High Gain DC- DC Converter With Reduced Voltage Stress for DC Microgrids

DC microgrids gained popularity due to integrating renewable energy (RE) sources like solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and fuel cells. The lower output voltage of these renewable sources requires a reliable, highly efficient, high-gain DC boost converter to connect them with DC microgrids. A three-switch configured non-isolated high-efficient DC-DC converter is proposed in this paper to achieve ultra-high voltage gain at a lower duty ratio with less voltage stress on the switching devices. The operating principle, derived equation, switch stress, and diode stress are analyzed in continuous conduction mode (CCM). The efficiency, switch stress, and diode stress are presented. To validate the proposed converter topology, a 460 W converter with a 40V input and 600V output, running at a 40 KHz switching frequency is simulated in MATLAB. The simulation result demonstrated that the converter maintains an efficiency at full load.
