Design and Analysis of Soft Switched Current-Fed Full Bridge DC-DC Converter for Renewable Energy Applications

A full bridge current fed modified series parallel quasi resonant DC to DC converter for DC micro-grid applications is presented in this paper. Zero current switching is achieved during the overlap switching states of device by generating a resonant pulse within the modified series parallel quasi resonant tank, reducing the current to zero in the exiting switches. The proposed converter facilitates steady output voltage across a broad range of variations in both output load and input source by using variable frequency modulation technique. Furthermore, voltage stress experienced by each semiconductor switches on the primary side of the transformer is less than the output voltage. A 400V/500W converter prototype is implemented and tested in the laboratory in order to verify the zero current switching performance.
