Optimal Charging Station Locations for Different Battery Sizes of Electric Vehicles in a Road Network
Electric vehicles (EVs) have become increasingly active in the public transportation system. To run an EV uninterruptedly, the location of the charging station (CS) is important. This paper proposes the use of two distinct charging cord levels to meet the charging demands of EVs with varying battery sizes throughout the day. There are two types of charging cords that need to be installed to fulfil the charging demand for EVs. The objectives of this paper are to minimise station installation costs (SIC) and EV travel costs (EVTC) by optimally placing CSs in the considered area. The cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) is used to find the best optimal locations for the considered road network. The results show that the proposed method finds the optimal CS for EVs.
