Universal Three-Phase On-Board EV Charger Using Bridgeless Non-Isolated Boost-Buck Converter Topology

This paper presents a novel three-phase non-isolated on-board charger for electric vehicles with wide range of voltage. The charger is compatible with the three-phase AC voltage input and is composed of two-stage circuits. The proposed charger is based on switching control of three-phase six-switch power factor correction (PFC) circuit in each phase. The switching control is so designed such that the front end cascade topology of a totem-pole PFC circuit acts as boost circuit while the rear end controls the buck mode with the help of a toggle-able LC tank circuit. The proposed control scheme relies on individual phase control. The control algorithm is simple and the input current and voltage present less distortion. MATLAB/Simulink platform has been used to carry out the simulation and the results have been presented.
