Neotypification and new combination for an endemic species of Martinique (Lesser Antilles) in the genus Chromolaena (Eupatorieae, Asteraceae)
Chromolaena medullosa is a species endemic to the peaks of Martinique, historically misclassified in Eupatorium. Despite its distinct leaf morphology and compact inflorescences, it was not included in the revised Chromolaena treatment by King & Robinson in 1987. Its holotype is presumably lost due to wartime destruction, and associated specimens have been misidentified as C. trigonocarpa. This study designates a neotype for the species to clarify its taxonomic status and support its conservation, acknowledging its uniqueness within the genus.
