MENINGKATKAN LITERASI INFORMASI DAN PENGEMBANGAN MINAT BACA SISWA DI PERPUSTAKAAN SDN 5 SIRAH PULAU PADANG

The school library is a place in the school that provides a variety of literacy books as a means of supporting educational goals and becoming a driving force for the implementation of quality education to make the nation's life more intelligent. This research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. In this research, it is described how students' interest in reading is in the Library at SDN 5 Sirah Pulau Padang. The data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. The data collection techniques used in this research were observation, interviews and literature study. To increase reading interest and enthusiasm for reading among students, various concrete steps are needed, with this specifically in the attitude of leaders and teachers who care more about libraries. The role of the library in providing an increase in students' interest in reading has not been implemented optimally. This can be seen from the activities carried out by the library to increase interest in reading among students which have not yet been achieved optimally. Due to the lack of interest between the school and the students themselves in helping to provide encouragement in the implementation of activities taking place at school.
