PROPOSING HYBRID ALGORITHM TO ENCRYPT SQL DATABASE COMPONENTS
With rapid technological development and increasing relying on digital systems in various areas of life, sensitive data has become a crucial ensue in the privacy and security of individuals and institutions. However, the world today is witnessing a significant increase in cybersecurity threats, as personal and institutional data are in risk of hacking, theft, or manipulation by malicious parties. These challenges reinforce the urgent need to implement advanced data protection solutions, especially in databases that contain sensitive information such as employee data, customers, and financial transactions. Thus, Encryption algorithms represent an essential solution in limiting these threats, as they provide an ideal combination of security and performance.Hence, the importance of using hybrid encryption algorithms, which combine the advantages of several algorithms to achieve the highest levels of protection while maintaining efficiency in performance. This research aims to highlight the importance of protecting sensitive data in databases. Also addresses how to apply data access control techniques at the column level. In addition, this research presents the stages of applying the hybrid encryption algorithms Blowfish and XChaCha20 in detail, explaining the mechanism of accessing sensitive data columns while maintaining a balance between performance and security. One of the most prominent features achieved by this system is decrypting data only when it is needed. This feature helps in safely analysing data without decrypting all database columns, which helps in reducing the risks of unauthorized access to data, leakage or tampering with it.
