STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF AIR OXIDATION ON CARBO- SULFUR COMPOUNDS IN MINING SULFUR
The chemical-air oxidation method using concentrated sulfuric acid is one of the industrial techniques employed for the carbonization of bituminous materials. This involves oxidizing them with concentrated sulfuric acid at temperatures ranging from 130-190C.In our study, the objective was to determine the optimal conditions and achieve a nearly complete reaction between concentrated sulfuric acid (at a concentration of 0.3 ml) and bituminous materials.Additionally, an increase in carbo-sulfur materials was noted, facilitating their filtration and obtaining industrial sulfur that meets global specifications. The reactions were monitored by studying acidity and measuring the carbon content (carbols) of chemically and air-oxidized models. The increase and maturation in carbon content (carsul materials) were evident at different temperature levels, indicating intensified reactions with rising temperatures.Changes were tracked chemically and spectrally, along with FTIR measurements of extracted carbon at each temperature.XRD-SEM-EDS measurements for each model revealed clear differences, indicating regular structures of carbo-sulfur and a gradual increase in sulfur content for chemically oxidized and chemically-air-oxidized models.A surprising spike
