Swot analysis of cloud technologies as a prerequisite for decision on their implementation

Methods. The study was based on the use of the scientific systematization method to define the essence and characteristics of SWOT analysis as a strategic planning tool; the systematic approach to distinguish the components of cloud technology implementation assessment (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats); and the structural-functional analysis to determine the role of current and future factors influencing the efficiency of cloud solutions adoption by enterprises. A traditional SWOT analysis was adapted to the specifics of cloud technology implementation, with the evaluation dimensions including time factors (current and future impact) and nature of influence (positive and negative). Results. The article summarizes the assessments of the scientific and business communities regarding the feasibility of cloud technology implementation in enterprises under conditions of digitalization and global technological transformations. The key internal and external factors influencing the decision to adopt cloud solutions were analyzed, including resource savings, flexibility, and scalability as strengths, as well as internet dependency, security concerns, and limited control as weaknesses. Opportunities such as integration with innovative technologies (AI, IoT, Big Data) and access to new markets were identified, along with threats such as competition, cybersecurity risks, and regulatory changes. The author proposes a modified SWOT analysis that differentiates between current (strengths and weaknesses) and future (potential and threats) impacts of cloud technologies, contributing to a clearer understanding of short-term and long-term perspectives. The importance of evaluating current benefits (e.g., cost savings, increased productivity) and risks (vendor dependency, adaptation costs), as well as forecasting future potential (rapid scaling, technological evolution) and threats (technology obsolescence, rising cyber risks), is substantiated. Recommendations are provided on how to utilize the analysis results for developing cloud technology implementation strategies, including cost optimization, data security enhancement, and regulatory compliance preparedness. Novelty. The novelty of the research lies in identifying the key features of the modified SWOT analysis for cloud technology assessment, particularly its adaptability to the time dimension (current and future impact), practical orientation toward managerial decision-making, and comprehensive approach to evaluating technological innovations. The principles of SWOT analysis modification are formulated, including a clear distinction between short-term and long-term effects, a focus on potential and risk forecasting, and the integration of technological and organizational aspects. Practical value is that the proposed modified SWOT analysis enables enterprises to systematize the assessment of cloud technology implementation feasibility, facilitating their adaptation to the digital economy, improving business process efficiency, and creating prerequisites for sustainable development. The research findings can be used to develop cloud adoption strategies, optimize IT infrastructure, manage risks, and plan investments in technological innovations.

Abstract
