Design of an Automated Paint Spray Machine to Support the Implementation of a Green Shipyard

Abstract Conventional painting methods for vessel plates have shortcomings in terms of quality, human failure, and production waste that pollute the environment. Although painting technology is constantly evolving, specific applications for ship plates are still very limited. The research developed the Eco-Automated Painting Spray Machine to support green shipyard applications by reducing environmental pollution from production waste, especially waste that flows freely in the air. This experimental study examines the design and building of machines with automatic control systems that allow for precise adjustment in paint applications. To determine machine efficiency, performance assessments are performed in a variety of operating situations. The results reveal that this automatic sprayer design is able to eliminate paint residue that pollutes the shipyard environment, which is in line with the philosophy of environmentally friendly shipyards. The implementation of the Eco-Automated Painting Spray Machine is projected to be a reference for the development of automated painting technology.

Although painting technology is constantly evolving, specific applications for ship plates are still very limited. The research developed the Eco-Automated Painting Spray Machine to support green shipyard applications by reducing environmental pollution from production waste, especially waste that flows freely in the air.
