Full scale task risk assessment of crude oil tank cleaning job using qualitative risk matrix and control in pt. saka (indonesia-pangkah) limited

Abstract Oil storage tank cleaning job is an important, routine, and high-risk activity because workers enter confined spaces that are potentially exposed to hydrocarbons and hydrogen sulphide. This work requires a full-scale task risk assessment, considering that there are several categories of work that have very high potential hazards for workers. A full-scale task risk assessment is a method of assessing the risk of a job (project) as a whole, covering several categories of work that require a task risk assessment. The purpose of this study was to conduct a full-scale task risk assessment using quantitative risk analysis and control on crude oil storage tank cleaning work at PT. Saka Indonesia Pangkah Limited. A full-scale task risk assessment includes several stages, including categorizing job descriptions, identifying hazards, determining consequences, qualitative risk analysis, and determining risk control. Qualitative risk analysis includes determining the likelihood, severity, value, and risk category obtained from the risk matrix. The assessment results show the risk value of each category of 25 percent (low), 50 percent (moderate), and 25 percent (high). The application of risk control can reduce work that is categorized as high (intolerable) to moderate (tolerable). The risk values for each category are 25 percent (low) and 75 percent (moderate).
