Risk Factors Associated With Revision Microdiscectomy or Subsequent Spinal Fusion Within Two Years of Index Lumbar Microdiscectomy
Rates of revision microdiscectomy and fusion within two years of index lumbar microdiscectomy were 5.5% and 6.6%, respectively. Age 40 to 59 years, female sex, and having ≥1 CCI comorbidity, were significantly predictive of time-to-fusion but not revision microdiscectomy. Having at least one comorbidity increased the likelihood of fusion by 80%.
