REPRESENTATION OF LEXICAL INNOVATIONS IN SOCIAL LIFE OF THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING SOCIETY
Abstract. The article is devoted to lexical innovations (neologisms) – words perceived by native English speakers as new, denoting newly appeared objects or concepts that have an element of originality in their se-mantics or structure. The author studies lexical innovations from the point of view of their representation in such spheres of social life of the English-speaking society as health care system, education, physical culture and sports, relationships between generations, environmental protection. The analysis of the factual material has shown that the main ways of forming lexical innovations are affixation, analogy and telescoping, abbrevi-ations, and forming compound words. We came to a conclusion that the most common methods are telescoping and analogy.
