The issue of dating an urban settlement in case of lack of a clear and specific written confirmation of its foundation, is always extremely problematic and complicated. This study is the result of archaeological research in 2016-2017 in the territory of the Old City of the second Kostroma Kremlin, shedding light on the time of its foundation.
