Ação direta e contra-arte nos espaços públicos como práticas estético-políticas
We will analyze two activist actions in public spaces: the action of setting fire to the statue of Bandeirante Manuel de Borba Gato in the city of São Paulo-SP, Brazil, by an activist collective of motorcycle couriers called Grupo Revolucion Periférica in 2021; the actions of occupying schools and taking over the streets by the secondary movement (high school) in the city of São Paulo-SP, Brazil, in 2015-16. We consider that these urban interventions articulate at the same time direct actions (political action/minority and student struggle) and counter-art practices (aesthetic action/confrontation with the field of art). We call these actions aesthetic-political practices.
