Exploring the Effect of Nonideal Conditions in Perovskite Solar Cells Performance Using Numerical Simulations
Non‐radiative recombination plays a crucial role in perovskite solar cells, restricting their performance considerably lower than the Shockley‐Queisser limit. Herein, at first, a CsPbI 3 ‐based solar cell configuration is optimized by varying the thickness, doping, and defect density of each layer. Then, the performance of the device is investigated under different non‐ideal conditions by varying the Auger and radiative recombination coefficients employing solar cell capacitance simulator‐1D simulation. The observations suggest that the device performance notably deteriorates when the Auger coefficients exceed 10‐24 cm 6 s −1 . Further, the variation in acceptor concentration significantly impacts J SC , changing by 0.6 to 24.2% under moderate (10–24 cm 6 s −1 ) and high (10–20 cm 6 s −1 ) Auger recombination, compared to low (10–30 cm 6 s −1 ) effect. In contrast, relatively small variations are observed in V OC . As a result, for an acceptor concentration of 1016 cm −3 , the device efficiency abruptly changes from 18.30 to 17.36% and finally to 7.77%, respectively, under low, moderate, and high Auger effects. The findings offer a comprehensive perception of the consequences of different non‐ideal conditions on device outcomes. Further, this detailed discussion on the enhancement in J SC might also be beneficial for addressing the issue of the current mismatch, which remains a significant challenge in Si/perovskite tandem solar cells.
