ON THE FREIWALD- AXFORD MODEL OF LASER INDUCED PLASMA

In this paper, plasma plume shock wave front speed has been calculated by using MATLAB programming code. The wave front speed was calculated using the Freiwald-Axford model in an argon background gas.The impact of laser pulse energy Ep on the velocity of the plasma shock wave speed (V) has been investigated in this study. From the results it has been noticed that as Ep increases, the plasma plume shock wave front speed V also increases because higher laser energy leads to increased plasma energy. The results also show that the plasma plume shock wave front speed decreases with increasing distance from the target surface due to energy dissipation from collisions with the background gas and recombination of electrons and positive ions.in the large distance from the target. The Freiwald-Axford model depends on some physical and thermal properties of the target such as mass density, volume and on the applied laser pulse energy.
