STRUCTURAL AND OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF CADMIUM SULPHIDE NANOPARTICLES SYNTHESIZED BY GREEN METHOD USING BAY LAUREL LEAVE EXTRACT
This research aims to employ bay laurel leaves as a stabilizing and reducing agent in the production of CdS nanoparticles with less environmental risk, easy scaling, stability, and suitability for large-scale production.A green synthesis of CdS nanoparticles was carried out with the use of double distilled water (D.D.W.), cadmium acetate, and bay laurel leave extract.X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies have been performed for characterizing the obtained particles. The findings of the structural characterization demonstrate using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) the formation of impurity-free, pure CdS NPs in a single phase.Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies were utilized to conduct the morphological study. We have shown and discussed the optical absorption spectra regarding a pure sample taken between 300 and 700 nm using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer.About 2.47 eV is the energy band gap determined through Tauc relationship.(FTIR) spectroscopy was used to study the functional groups in the leaves of the bay laurel extract that are responsible for reducing the cadmium acetate to cadmium sulphide, and stabilizing the nanoparticles.
