EMPLOYING ICP-MS METHOD TO MEASURE THE AMOUNT OF URANIUM IN THE SOUTH OF MAYSAN GOVERNORATE'S SOIL SAMPLES

In this study, which measured uranium contents using ICP-MS technology, soil samples were collected from (25) locations in different parts of the southern Maysan governorate of a southern Iraqi city. These sites were surface-based and selected based on specific factors.Uranium concentrations were found to vary from (0.02 ppm) in the Al-Kahla region to (4.9 ppm) in the Qal'at Salih area, according to the findings.Tests conducted on soil samples revealed uranium levels of less than 100 parts per million (ppm), which suggests that the material is more likely to be leftover waste and extra load than mineable reserves. The uranium concentration in the Maysan governorate is presented and assessed in the paper.(25) samples of surface soil are below detection limits, according to the research. As of right now, the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation's 1993 permissible maximum of (11.7 ppm) for uranium concentrations in surface soil samples has been exceeded, according to current results.
