HIGHWAY-BASED WIND ENERGY HARVESTING SYSTEM: SURVEY FOR DESIGNING OF SUSTAINABLE URBAN WIND TURBINES

This paper provides a comprehensive survey of wind turbines designed to harness wind energy generated by vehicles on highways. While wind energy is recognized as a rapidly growing source of clean energy, its effectiveness is often constrained by the variability of natural wind.Highways, with their consistent vehicle traffic, present a substantial and underutilized source of wind energy. This survey examines the potential for capturing this energy by reviewing existing research on wind patterns produced by moving vehicles and analyzing methods for optimizing turbine design to accommodate flowing from the highway's two sides. The study explores the feasibility of integrating these turbines with existing streetlights on highway medians.Furthermore, it evaluates various energy storage solutions to manage the fluctuating wind energy and ensure a stable power supply. The findings aim to highlight the potential for deploying such turbines globally, providing a sustainable Power supply for lamps and other public facilities.
