POSSIBILITIES OF ACHIEVING SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY IN THE ACADEMIC ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTION) MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING PROJECTS AS A MODEL(
Social sustainability is one of the fundamental concepts in improving the quality of life associated with meeting the various human needs in terms of health, society, culture, psychology, and economy, particularly when we consider the residential environment in a way that ensures social balance and facilitates social communication for residents, as well as justice in the distribution of services to occupants.Because the design process in architecture is the outcome of functional necessities, aesthetic principles, symbolic and social meanings, living activities and social practices maintain a basic background for that physical picture of the design process, The study's significance stems from its capacity to define the notion of social sustainability and the criteria for achieving it in residential environment designs, a goal designers strive for.The paper's problem is defined by the inadequacy and lack of clarity of scientific information regarding the feasibility of establishing the criteria and procedures for attaining social sustainability in multi-family housing projects, as architecture is a social phenomenon and a mirror of individual behaviour in society, the paper tries to clarify its significance and dimensions for Department of Architecture students. The paper aims to explore the possibilities of achieving social sustainability standards in the design of housing projects for the Department of Architecture students within the architectural design course, and the paper assumes the existence of a difference in the possibilities of employing the mechanisms through which sustainable residential designs can be achieved.
