ANTIOXIDANT, ANTI-MICROBIAL EFFECT AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ETHANOLIC LEAVES EXTRACT OF SAGE (SALVIA OFFICINALIS L., LAMIACEAE) USING FTIR TECHNIQUE

Background: A family of plants known as Lamiaceae, Salvia is comprised of over 900 distinct species that can be found all over the world.Since ancient times, one of these species, Salvia officinalis, has been extensively exploited as a medicinal plant for the treatment of a wide range of different conditions. It has been suggested that several species of Salvia possess antioxidant properties, and their local application as medicinal herbs includes the treatment of wounds that are located on the body itself. Objective: To be more specific, the current study investigates the bioactive components of the extract of Salvia officinalis leaves, as well as the antioxidant and anti-microbial activities of these fractions in vitro.Materials and Methods: Phytochemical analysis and antioxidant testing were carried out in accordance with the methods that had been set.Using a radical scavenging experiment that comprised hydroxyl, superoxide, and nitric oxide radicals in their respective forms, an investigation of the antioxidant capacity of Salvia officinalis was carried out. Results: The Values of the FT-IR Peak were the most important elements (Wave number cm-
