AN ANALYSIS STUDY OF SI ION PLASMA IN IRAQ SOIL BY LASER INDUCED BREAKDOWN SPECTROSCOPY (LIBS)
The diversity of chemical elements present in the soil and their complex composition makes it more difficult to determine the presence of a specific element. In this report, LIBS technology was used to analyze Si ion plasma in soil using an Nd:YAG laser that emits a wavelength of 1064 nm.The optical emission from silicon ion plasma was measured and analyzed using a spectrum analyzer (Thorlabs GmbH), and the plasma temperature and electron density were calculated using the Saha-Boltzmann equation and using the McWhirter criterion, and their values were as follows: (Te=9523 K) and (Ne =5.227*1015 cm-3) for silicon plasma. The results indicated that LIBS technology could be one of the approved techniques for quantitative determination of Si ions in soil, or any other element.
