Oscillating laser welding of SLM-deposited AlSi10Mg sheets with filler wire: Pores, microstructure and mechanical performance

Products from AlSi10Mg manufactured by selective laser melting (SLM) have porosity defects, and most of the pores in the molten base metal cannot escape during welding. This study performed AlSi10Mg oscillating laser filler welding by optimising the assembly gap to reduce the melting of the base metal. The pore distribution characteristics, microstructure and mechanical properties of welded joints were analysed. The results show that the porosity for a type I 0 mm gap is 11.16%. When a 12° V-groove is adopted, the dilution rate of the base material decreases and the porosity is 6.53%. When a type I 1 mm gap is adopted, the porosity was further reduced to 1.37%, the tensile strength of the specimen was increased to 277 MPa.

When a 12° V-groove is adopted, the dilution rate of the base material decreases and the porosity is 6.53%. When a type I 1 mm gap is adopted, the porosity was further reduced to 1.37%, the tensile strength of the specimen was increased to 277 MPa.
