Medicinal Use of Prosopis juliflora: A Sustainable Approach for Controlling Their Sprea

In many nations, including India, Prosopis juliflora is an invasive species that has spread over the country's northern and some southern regions. The non-native plant was brought to India because of its ability to enhance soil quality and withstand hard environments. Because it has no competition, it spreads quickly and affects sacred groves. Although it is indigenous to the Americas, it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-cancer benefits. Prosopis juliflora provides a substitute for certain indigenous medicinal plants, despite its detrimental impacts on regional ecosystems. Native species are frequently replaced by invasive plants in places like South Africa, Nepal, and some parts of India. The primary usage of Prosopis juliflora in India is as fuel. But, particularly in states like Haryana, there is a growing need to investigate its therapeutic and cosmetic qualities in order to control its growth in a way that is environmentally sustainable. The utilization potential is highlighted in this review. Prosopis juliflora is used for cosmetic and ayurvedic uses as a way to decrease its ecological impact. Its medical potential could also be used to sustainably improve the economic status of regions where it is prevalent.
