Simulation study on the activation process and charge threshold of a specific actuation valve
To accurately predict the activation process of an initiation valve, a mathematical model of propellant combustion and piston motion is established. The pressure variation curve applied to the piston is solved using a MATLAB Simulink-based program. Concurrently, joint simulations were conducted using ANSYS/LS-DYNA software to calculate piston velocity and displacement, revealing the motion characteristics of the piston during the valve activation process. By adjusting the amount of propellant, the effect of propellant quantity on piston motion was analyzed, and the threshold of reliable piston activation was determined. The results indicate that the initiating charge in the electric detonator is sufficient to effectively ignite the main charge, and the time required for the propellant in the detonator to drive the piston to the desired position is 1.15 ms. The threshold charge required for the piston to reach its designated position is 56 mg.
