PHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSE OF FENUGREEK PLANTS TO TREATMENT WITH AQUEOUS EXTRACTS OF ONION, GARLIC AND CHARA ALGAE

This study was carried out according to randomized plot design in greenhouse conditions to determine the effects of of aqueous extracts of garlic, (Allium sativum L.) and onions (Allium cepa L.) and Chara algae and the interaction between them at of 0.5 and 1% concentrations on germination , growth of Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.).The results showed that the highest percentage of germination was 100% under the influence of most treatments, and the highest plant height 42.63 cm, the longest root length with an average of 25.33 cm, and The shoot's dry weight 0.46 gm, the largest area was 3.13 cm, and number of root nodules reached 14.89 as a result of the mixture of garlic extract with Chara at a 1%, while the largest dry weight 0.35 gm of the root system when the fenugreek plant was treated with Chara extract at 1% and a mixture of onion extract and Chara at 1%, the highest content of chlorophyll a and total was recorded with an average of 29.40 and 44.41 g/mg, and the chlorophyll b content reached 16.21 g/mg under effect of garlic compared to the control, The 1% was better than the 0.5 %.The present outcomes showed that it is possible to use extracts of garlic, onions, and Chara, especially a mixture of garlic with Chara at 1%, to enhance the germination and growth of the fenugreek plant.
