PHOTOCATALYSIS AND PH EFFECTS ON ACTIVATED CARBON'S EFFICIENCY IN REMOVING METHYLENE BLUE: A STUDY OF STRUCTURAL AND OPTICAL PROPERTIES

The chemical activation method was used to synthesis activated carbon from natural date pits at different temperatures (400C, 600C, and 800C).The resulting activated carbon was then treated with a solution of calcium chloride (CaCl2).The XRD study provided a detailed description of the composition of the activated carbon, while the FE-SEM images revealed its irregular shape. The findings indicated that the carbon derived from date pits exhibits a porous configuration.FT-IR spectroscopy was used to identify the functional groups present in the activated carbon, while EDX analysis provided information about its exact elemental composition. The adsorption efficiency of activated carbon for methylene blue dye from an aqueous solution can be evaluated by examining its performance at various pH.The findings indicate that the activated carbon effectively eliminates methylene blue dye, with the adsorption capability progressively enhancing with an increase in pH.
