A data-driven digital design method for electrical transmission and substation engineering
This paper examines the challenges and opportunities in the digitalization of transmission and substation engineering design, particularly in the context of rapid technological advancements and the increasing complexity of engineering environments. Traditional design methods, which rely on manual operations and experiential judgment, hinder design efficiency and quality due to issues like information silos, inconsistent standards, and cumbersome workflows. The paper proposes a novel data-driven approach to digital design, aiming to standardize workflows, improve design accuracy, and enhance the integration of design data. Insights from international digitalization practices, particularly the application of 3D modeling, simulation technologies, and digital grids, are also highlighted as valuable benchmarks for accelerating the digital transformation of power sector. The study outlines key strategies for enhancing design depth, precision, and collaboration, ultimately contributing to the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of transmission and substation projects.
