Effect of contact angle of HVDC conductors on the dynamic characteristics of water droplets
Raindrops attached to the surface of conductors is one of the main causes of corona discharge. Currently, the main method to reduce the impact of raindrops on the corona discharge phenomenon on the conductor is to attach a coating on the surface of the conductor. This paper establishes a multiphase flow model of charged water droplets in finite element simulation software, and analyzes the motion of water droplets on the surface with different contact angles (CA). According to the study, it is simple to create a high contact area of the water film on the hydrophilic coating surface, which significantly reduces the amplitude of droplet motion and the degree of distortion of the electric field strength produced by the droplets. The water droplets on the hydrophobic coating surface are prone to jetting or slipping under the electric field, and the degree of distortion of the field strength will be reduced after the water droplets leave the wire surface.
