Implementation of Augmented Reality of Education-Based Application for Simple Machines

This paper discusses the MachinARy application of Augmented Reality (AR) based applications for education of simple machines. Traditional learning methods such as blackboard and chalk and traditional textbooks may not be the most immersive learning methods. In mechanical education, especially related to simple machines, the technology of learning media is still under-explored. Technology in education can influence learners to actively recall knowledge and can lead to effective learning processes. This study seeks to contribute to the body of knowledge that supports the effective integration of innovative technologies in teaching methodologies. This study follows the Waterfall model, a sequential approach to software development that mainly consists of five phases; requirements, design, development, testing, and maintenance. This paper discusses the use of AR as a valuable tool to enhance education in the field of physics. In addition, the study conducted a User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) to evaluate the usability of the application and received positive feedback from the respondents. Involving 25 respondents, the UEQ revealed Perspicuity garnered the highest mean score of 2.270, indicating the intuitive usability of the application. The findings validate the potential of AR as a valuable educational tool, leading the way for future advancements in AR-based learning applications.
