Optimizing acoustic insulation in a wooden floor with a porous layer: A metamodel‐assisted global sensitivity analysis

Abstract The aim of this work is to optimize the acoustic insulation performance of a wooden floor with joists, on which a layer of porous material is installed to reduce its sound transmission, mainly in the low‐frequency range. The study focuses on identifying the geometric parameters and materials with the greatest influence on vibroacoustic response through a global sensitivity analysis. The system is modeled using finite elements, while the Rayleigh integral method is used to calculate its acoustic radiation. To carry out this sensitivity study with low numerical cost, a Kriging‐type metamodel is implemented. This metamodel is also used to identify first‐order and total Sobol sensitivity indices. The accuracy of the Kriging model is validated by comparing its results with those obtained by direct numerical calculation. The results of this study show that the flow resistivity of the porous material, its thickness, the thicknesses of the top and bottom layers of the wooden floor, and the Young's moduli of the wood are the key parameters to be optimized to reduce the sound transmission of the floor studied in the low frequency range.
