Quantitative analysis of polarization correction algorithms for DoFP short-wave infrared polarimetric measurements

Division-of-focal-plane polarization detectors serve as critical devices in real-time polarimetric imaging. Compared to traditional infrared focal plane detectors, these detectors exhibit more complex non-uniformity challenges. Existing polarization correction algorithms primarily focus on the uniformity of corrected images while neglecting the accuracy of the corrected polarization information. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a quantitative framework for evaluating the performance of infrared polarization correction algorithms. The proposed framework comprises a simple controllable polarization radiation source design and a quantitative analysis methodology for assessing infrared polarization correction algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that various infrared polarization correction algorithms exhibit significantly different impacts on measurement accuracy, indicating the necessity of quantitative analysis in performance evaluation. The proposed quantitative analysis framework effectively analyzes the stability and accuracy of infrared polarization correction algorithms.
