Self-assembled Ti3C2T /MnFe2O4 hybrid Schottky junction sensor: A breakthrough in electron transfer enhancement and low detection limit for hydroxyl radical detection

• MnFe 2 O 4 /Ti 3 C 2 T x hybrid Schottky junctions constructed by self-assembled mechanism. • Ti 3 C 2 T x as an electron trap promotes the transfer of electrons between materials. • MnFe 2 O 4 /Ti 3 C 2 T x hybrid Schottky junctions with low detection limits for hydroxyl radicals . Hydroxyl radical ( OH) is a highly active reactive oxygen species (ROS) in biological systems. Electrochemical sensors can be used to develop a simple and reliable method for the quantitative measurement of hydroxyl radicals , which is essential for monitoring human life and health. However, the study of two-dimensional materials in ROS detection is still relatively rare, and the reaction mechanism has not been fully studied. In this study, an electrochemical sensor based on Ti 3 C 2 T x and MnFe 2 O 4 with a Schottky junction was developed by chemical-electrostatic self-assembly. We analyzed the related mechanism in detail through the energy of the material, and the limit of detection can be as low as 4.26 nM. The etched Ti 3 C 2 T x , as a metal-like conductor, provides an excellent channel for electron transmission. At the same time, MnFe 2 O 4 has good heterogeneous catalytic performance due to its high oxygen vacancy and surface area. The electrostatic interaction between the chemical-electrostatic self-assembly of MnFe 2 O 4 nanoparticles on Ti 3 C 2 T x induces the Schottky effect. This effect promotes charge transfer across the interface and dynamically adjusts the electronic and nanostructure properties of the TM (Ti 3 C 2 T x /MnFe 2 O 4 ) series materials.
