A Rare Cause of Collapse–Congenital lobar agenesis
Abstract Lung agenesis is a rare congenital defect referring to the total absence of one or both lungs, including other associated structures such as bronchi, bronchioles, pulmonary vasculature, and respiratory parenchyma. A large percentage of individuals often remain unaware of the condition of unilateral pulmonary agenesis due to the compensatory mechanism of the contralateral lung. We present a case of a 32-year-old female who underwent preoperative evaluation for a laminectomy procedure, and a preoperative chest X-ray revealed right-sided lobar agenesis.
