A Field-Oriented Internal Model Control Method for Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Machines
This study utilizes the internal model control (IMC) method for the brushless doubly fed induction machine (BDFIM) drive system. The proportional-integral (PI) controller's gain and integration time are determined directly from the desired closed-loop bandwidth and the machine's parameters. This approach streamlines the controller design and removes the need for trial-and-error adjustments. Furthermore, a maximum torque per ampere (MTPIA) control strategy is introduced to reduce the inverter's power requirements for the BDFIM. This method enables the independent determination of the direct-axis current reference for the control winding (CW) of the BDFIM, regardless of the CW frequency or machine torque level.
