Design of Compact Dual-Band Modified Slotted Circular Antenna for Body Area Networks

This paper introduces a new dual-band circular patch antenna designed for optimal performance in 5G applications. The antenna structure integrates a circular patch with two rectangular patches, a H-shaped slot to achieve dual-band functionality. The proposed antenna has compact dimensions of 36 × 30 × 2 mm³. For dual-band function, the antenna operates in two distinct frequency bands, catering to the demands of diverse applications. The first resonance band at 2.4 GHz with return loss of -32.5 dB, for ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical) application. The second resonance band at 7.1 GHz, featuring an S<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf> value of -21.5 dB, is tailored for satellite communication. Marked by its compact form factor, dual-band capability, and cost-effectiveness, the proposed antenna emerges as a promising candidate for integration into Body area communication systems.
